When summer scorches you, don’t you wish for an easy remedy to beat the heat?

Summer is the season of heat and intensity. The scorching sun gradually dries up the water content in our body, leaving us feeling tired, irritable, and drained. Excess sweating, dehydration, skin sensitivity, digestive discomfort, and low energy are all common during this time.

According to classical Ayurvedic texts like Ashtanga Hridaya and Charaka Samhita, summer (Grishma Ritu) is the season when Bala – the subtle essence of vitality and immunity – naturally declines. When Bala goes down, our resistance and strength may feel lower.

Understanding Dosha Changes in Summer:

  • Pitta increases due to external heat.
  • Body fluids are reduced, leading to dryness.
  • Prolonged dryness can gradually aggravate Vata.
  • Digestive strength may fluctuate.
  • Skin may become sensitive or prone to irritation.
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) tend to increase due to dehydration, concentrated and less urine, and failing to flushout bacteria.

To support balance during seasonal shifts, Ayurveda recommends lifestyle moderation, hydration, and the use of traditionally known cooling herbs.
