Tips to prevent gas trouble

WE ARE WHAT WE EAT.

Gas is formed inside our body in 2 ways.

1.When you swallow air while eating or drinking i.e. Chew gum, loose dentures, eating or drinking too fast, carbonated drinks,

2.During digestion, when bacteria in your large intestine break down undigested carbohydrate.

WHICH FOODS ARE MORE LIKELY TO CAUSE GASTROUBLE?

Not everyone gets gas problems due to the same foods. It depends on our digestive abilities. But some well-known problem creators include foods with high carb and protein. Soft drinks, processed foods, dairy products, fruits etc. can also fall on the list.

On the other hand, it can also be produced due to excessive production of stomach acid or its reflux into the esophagus. This can occur due to excessive spicy or fatty diet or untimely food intake, GERD, smoking, alcoholism, obesity or stress.

This gas can get expelled through mouth(burping) or through the anus flatulence). Once digestion gets started hydrogen, and methane.

 Ayurvedic concepts

Ayurveda emphasizes holistic wellness. So, for making a person healthy, his Agni or digestive fire plays a major role. In Dinacharya and Rthucharya ,Acharya clearly explains about the diet and regimen to be followed in general. But individual variation can happen due to difference in Prakrthi.

Imbalanced Agni is the root cause of weakened digestive system. Agni refers to us digestive capacity of an individual. Mindful eating practices and ingredients like ginger and cumin can enhance your Agni. Including practices advised in dinacharya and rthucharya like pranayama and yoga, helps in proper detoxification of mind and body. Always remember that stress management and adequate night sleep is also very important in ensuring proper digestion.
