It was the early 20th century, a time when organized healthcare and medicines were nearly unknown to the small farming communities of Kerala. Epidemics and diseases often played havoc with everyday life, leaving people with little access to trusted care.
Amidst this backdrop, Koshy Varghese (1908–1986), later affectionately called Pappy Vaidyar, dedicated his life to alleviating human suffering. His journey began at a gurukula near Kayamkulam, where he immersed himself in the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda. With deep compassion and vision, he founded Bipha Drug Laboratories—initially known as SGA Pharmacy (St. George Ayurvedic Pharmacy)—in the humble village of Oachira, South Kerala.
From those modest beginnings, Bipha has grown into a name synonymous with trust, authenticity, and innovation in Ayurveda, carrying forward a legacy of more than 95 years of healing excellence.
